Yuri Hronsky, Head of School
Yuri Hronsky was born and raised in Toronto. He is a graduate of York University with a degree in Religious Studies and his teaching credential in elementary education. At York University, he participated in a unique program that trained teachers in both the public schools, as well as in the Jewish Day Schools, to teach secular and Hebrew/Judaic studies. He received his Masters of Jewish Education and his Masters of Jewish Communal Service from Hebrew Union College in Los Angeles. He participated in the post-graduate residency in Day School Education sponsored by Hebrew Union College. He is an alum of the Wexner Graduate Fellowship. During his more than fifteen years of being part of the Heschel West / Ilan Ramon Day School family he has served as a classroom teacher, Assistant Principal, Director of the Middle School, and is now thrilled to be Head of School. Before serving as Head of School he served as the Principal of Kadima Hebrew Academy for two years. During the summer of 2013 he participated in the Harvard Graduate School of Education Principals Seminar.
Yuri is married to Rabbi Sarah Hronsky of Temple Beth Hillel in Valley Village, CA. They have three daughters, Zoe, Eden and Josie, and a son, Ryan.
Bat-hen Zeron, Director of Hebrew and Judaic Studies
Bat-hen was born and raised in Israel on Moshav Kfar Mordechai. She earned a BA in Social Theatre from Tel Aviv University and a Certificate in Group and Council Facilitation from Bar-Ilan University. She carries a CA Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential from The State of California, as well as a Certificate in Jewish Day School teaching from the DeLeT fellowship and a Certificate for Hebrew Teaching from the Delet L'Ivrit program from the Hebrew Union College. She also received her Masters in Education and Foreign Language Acquisition from the Levinsky College in Israel.
Bat-hen is a previous winner of the 20/20 Jewish Educators Assembly Award for Young Professionals for Excellence in Teaching. She has been a guest lecturer in education in the DeLet Summer Institute at Hebrew Union College in Los Angeles, and has been actively involved in Israeli Scouts for many years. We all need to be aware that Bat-hen is also a previous Boot Camp Instructor for the Israeli Defense Forces!
Bat-hen, her husband Arnon, and their sons Gilee and Doron are excited to be at Ilan Ramon Day School.
Paula Hoffman, Director of Early Childhood Education
Paula Hoffman has been in the field of Jewish early childhood education for more than twenty years, having previously worked as a teacher in both pre-k and kindergarten at Ilan Ramon Day School (under its former name of Heschel West), and with ten years of experience as an ECC Director. She received her Bachelor's Degree and teaching credential at California State University Long Beach and is currently completing a Master's Degree in Jewish Education with a certificate in Jewish Early Childhood Education at Hebrew College in Boston.
Paula believes that an early childhood program not only welcomes in the child, but the family as well, providing the opportunity to create life-long friendships and memories. When she has the time, Paula enjoys making art in her home studio with English and Hebrew calligraphy, papercutting, and painting. She is also an avid reader and bakes amazing chocolate chip cookies. Paula has three adult children, two of whom are married, and three of the most delicious granddaughters.
Kim Freund, Director of Outreach and Institutional Advancement
Kim Freund grew up in Calgary, Canada and is a product of Jewish Day School. She has a Bachelor of Social Work and an MBA in Non-Profit Management from the University of Judaism. Kim is the recipient of the UJC FEREP Scholarship and worked for the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles for many years.
Kim has extensive experience working for non profit organizations based in Canada, United States, and Israel with a focus on development and strategic planning. In addition, she has been an active volunteer at Ilan Ramon Day School over the last 7 years in capacities including Parent Org. Co-Chair, Development Chair, and Board President.
Kim is excited to assume the role of Director of Outreach and Institutional Advancement at Ilan Ramon Day School and be able to bring her expertise in non-profit management together with her love and passion for Jewish education and our school.
Mila August, Director of Finance
An alumni parent of Ilan Ramon Day School, Mila graduated from UCLA and earned her MBA from Pepperdine. She has previously worked at UCLA as Chief Administrative Officer for The Humanities Division as well as served as Finance Director here at Ilan Ramon Day School (when it was known as Heschel West).
