How to teach your kids better hygiene

While daunting, talking to your children about Coronavirus is crucial. First and foremost, it's important to listen to your children so you can understand their concerns and decide how and what information to give them.

How to talk to your kids about COVID-19:

Stay calm.
You know your children best. So, if you think they'll react a certain way to this topic, do your best to reassure them that they're safe and taken care of. Be careful of your tone, as not to worry them.

Don't downplay the severity.
Keep it simple and provide your kids with factual, age-appropriate information. Tell them the symptoms and make them aware of how it can spread.

Listen.
Make it known that you're always available to talk and hear them out if they're concerns grow. And if they're not feeling well, they should tell you immediately.

Show them how to practice good hygiene.
Arm your children with the information they need to stay healthy.

Hygiene tips to tell your kids:

Wash Your Hands.
With soap and water for 20 seconds. Up the fun factor by picking 20 seconds of a song (like “Happy Birthday” twice from beginning to end) and have them wash their hands for the duration of the song.

Keep it Clean.
Let your kids know they can help keep things clean by disinfecting surfaces and touched objects.

Avoid Touching.
Teach them the importance of not touching their eyes, nose and mouth. If they have to cough or sneeze, stress the importance of doing so into your arm.

Together, we can make a difference!
